THE FLATS – Georgia Tech (25-24) will open up its four-game homestand to close out the 2017 regular season on Tuesday night, May 16, versus Georgia Southern (35-17) in non-conference midweek action at Russ Chandler Stadium.

• Tuesday night is $2 Tuesday! Tickets, hot dogs and popcorn are all just $2!

• Outside food and beverages are not permitted inside Russ Chandler Stadium. Also the season ticketholder clear bags are not permitted during baseball season at Russ Chandler Stadium. All bags will be searched upon entry into the stadium. NO bags larger than 14 by 10 by 5 inches will be permitted.


• Georgia Tech has one final week left in the 2017 regular season. The Jackets host Georgia Southern on Tuesday night (6 p.m.), before closing out the regular season slate with a three-game ACC series versus the nationally ranked Virginia Cavaliers Thursday through Saturday, May 18-20, at Russ Chandler Stadium.

• Tuesday night’s midweek contest versus Georgia Southern is the second game of the two-game home and home series this season versus the Eagles. The two teams first met back in the second week of the season, a 10-3 road win by the Jackets over the Eagles in Statesboro, Ga. on Tuesday, Feb. 21.

• No. 3 Wade Bailey is only three hits shy from a career milestone. The junior second baseman enters Tuesday night’s game with 197 career base hits and is only three shy of recording career hit number 200.

• Georgia Tech’s Jake Lee pitched the first complete game for the Yellow Jackets in four seasons on Sunday afternoon at Duke. Lee went the distance (9.0 innings) in the 5-3 win over the Blue Devils in ACC play. The last Tech pitcher to throw a complete game for the Jackets was Josh Heddinger with a complete game two-hit shutout at No. 2 Vanderbilt on June 2, 2013.

• The Jackets’ offense has scored just five runs in each of its last three contests and four of its last five outings. Tech scored just five runs in all three games at Duke last weekend, falling 7-5 on Friday and 12-5 on Saturday, before defeating the Blue Devils 5-3 on Sunday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets also only scored five runs in their 5-2 ACC win over Pitt in their last home outing on Monday, May 9.

• No. 6 Ryan Peurifoy has been on fire as of late at the plate, as the senior outfielder is on a career-long 17-game hitting streak. Last week, he went 10-for-20 overall at the plate and drove in eight RBIs, which was almost 1/3 of the Jackets run production for the week. He capped off the week with the game-winning RBIs in the Jackets’ 5-3 win over Duke on Sunday, blasting a two-run home run in the top of the ninth with the scored tied at 3-3.

• Tech will be looking to record its seventh straight win over the Eagles on Tuesday night, as the Jackets have won six straight over its in-state foe. The Yellow Jackets defeated Georgia Southern 10-3 earlier this year in Statesboro, Ga. and swept the Eagles in the two-game series in both 2016 and 2015. The Jackets last lost to GS back on Feb. 19, 2014, a 4-3 loss on the road in Statesboro.

• The Jackets are 5-3 this season versus in-state foes with two wins apiece over Mercer and Georgia State, as well as a win over Georgia Southern back on Feb. 21. All three in-state losses this season came to UGA.

• After missing all of the 2016 season and the majority of the 2015 season due to injury, surgery and rehabilitation, GT starting pitching Ben Schniederjans will be making his ninth start of the season on the mound for the Jackets Tuesday night versus the Eagles. Schniederjans is 2-4 this season with a 4.30 ERA. Both of his wins have come against in-state foes in Mercer (Mar. 28) and Georgia State (April 19).

• Counting sophomore catcher Joey Bart, who has missed each of the Jackets’ last five games due to an injury, head coach Danny Hall and his team have had 10 different players miss multiple games in succession this season due to injuries.


• The Yellow Jackets are 99-31 all-time versus the Georgia Southern Eagles, as the two schools have played annually since 1984.

• Under Coach Hall, the Yellow Jackets are 67-19 overall versus Georgia Southern.

• Georgia Tech has won six straight over the Eagles heading into Tuesday night’s contest, including a 10-3 road win this season back on Feb. 21 in Statesboro, Ga.


• Tuesday night’s game is the final non-conference midweek contest of the season for the Jackets in 2017.

• Tech has gone 7-4 thus far this season in midweek contests with wins over No. 7 Auburn, No. 12 Oklahoma, and Georgia Southern, as well as two wins apiece over both Mercer and Georgia State.

• The Jackets are 3-2 at home this season in midweek action having posted wins over Georgia State (Feb. 28), No. 12 Oklahoma (Mar. 14) and Mercer (April 18).


• Junior Kel Johnson blasted not one, not two, but three home runs at J.I. Clements Stadium in the Jackets’ 10-3 road win over Georgia Southern on Feb. 21.

• Johnson’s three home runs in the game marked the 11th time in program history that a player recorded three home runs in the same game.

• Prior to Johnson, the last Tech player to hit three home runs in the same game was Chase Burnette versus Presbyterian in 2009.

• Junior reliever Jared Datoc earned his first career win. The righty came in to the game in the fifth and went 1.1 innings, giving up one run on two hits and one walk while striking out one Eagle hitter.


• The Jackets have had a roller coaster ride of a season thus far this year.

• Lead-off hitter Wade Bailey is eying a milestone as he enters play Tuesday night, as the junior is chasing career hit number 200.

• Bailey will head to the plate against the Eagles on Tuesday night with 197 total career base hits as a Jacket.


• Senior outfielder Ryan Peurifoy has been on fire as of late at the plate, as he has hit safely in each of the last 17 games, a new career-high.

• Over his 17-game hitting streak dating back to April 14, Peurifoy has hit .422 (27-for-64) with three home runs, five doubles, 17 RBIs and 12 runs scored. He also has posted a .641 slugging percentage and a .465 on-base percentage during his streak.


Zac Ryan has continued to embrace the closer role this season for the Jackets, as he recorded back-to-back saves for Tech two weeks ago against Pitt on Sunday and Monday nights.

• This season, the senior leads the team with five saves. He also has three wins on the year, all coming in extra inning contests for the Jackets.

• With his five saves this season, Ryan has 14 career saves as a Jacket which ranks eighth all-time in school history.


• The Jackets will wrap up the 2017 regular season slate with an ACC matchup with the nationally ranked Virginia Cavaliers Thursday, Friday and Saturday, May 18-20, at Russ Chandler Stadium.
