• Tuesday night’s midweek contest versus Georgia Southern is the second game of the two-game home and home series this season versus the Eagles. The two teams first met back in the second week of the season, a 10-3 road win by the Jackets over the Eagles in Statesboro, Ga. on Tuesday, Feb. 21.

• No. 3 Wade Bailey is only three hits shy from a career milestone. The junior second baseman enters Tuesday night’s game with 197 career base hits and is only three shy of recording career hit number 200.

• Georgia Tech’s Jake Lee pitched the first complete game for the Yellow Jackets in four seasons on Sunday afternoon at Duke. Lee went the distance (9.0 innings) in the 5-3 win over the Blue Devils in ACC play. The last Tech pitcher to throw a complete game for the Jackets was Josh Heddinger with a complete game two-hit shutout at No. 2 Vanderbilt on June 2, 2013.

• The Jackets’ offense has scored just five runs in each of its last three contests and four of its last five outings. Tech scored just five runs in all three games at Duke last weekend, falling 7-5 on Friday and 12-5 on Saturday, before defeating the Blue Devils 5-3 on Sunday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets also only scored five runs in their 5-2 ACC win over Pitt in their last home outing on Monday, May 9.

• No. 6 Ryan Peurifoy has been on fire as of late at the plate, as the senior outfielder is on a career-long 17-game hitting streak. Last week, he went 10-for-20 overall at the plate and drove in eight RBIs, which was almost 1/3 of the Jackets run production for the week. He capped off the week with the game-winning RBIs in the Jackets’ 5-3 win over Duke on Sunday, blasting a two-run home run in the top of the ninth with the scored tied at 3-3.

• Tech will be looking to record its seventh straight win over the Eagles on Tuesday night, as the Jackets have won six straight over its in-state foe. The Yellow Jackets defeated Georgia Southern 10-3 earlier this year in Statesboro, Ga. and swept the Eagles in the two-game series in both 2016 and 2015. The Jackets last lost to GS back on Feb. 19, 2014, a 4-3 loss on the road in Statesboro.

• The Jackets are 5-3 this season versus in-state foes with two wins apiece over Mercer and Georgia State, as well as a win over Georgia Southern back on Feb. 21. All three in-state losses this season came to UGA.

• After missing all of the 2016 season and the majority of the 2015 season due to injury, surgery and rehabilitation, GT starting pitching Ben Schniederjans will be making his ninth start of the season on the mound for the Jackets Tuesday night versus the Eagles. Schniederjans is 2-4 this season with a 4.30 ERA. Both of his wins have come against in-state foes in Mercer (Mar. 28) and Georgia State (April 19).

• Counting sophomore catcher Joey Bart, who has missed each of the Jackets’ last five games due to an injury, head coach Danny Hall and his team have had 10 different players miss multiple games in succession this season due to injuries.

LAST TIME OUT IN STATESBORO

• Johnson’s three home runs in the game marked the 11th time in program history that a player recorded three home runs in the same game.

• Prior to Johnson, the last Tech player to hit three home runs in the same game was Chase Burnette versus Presbyterian in 2009.

• Junior reliever Jared Datoc earned his first career win. The righty came in to the game in the fifth and went 1.1 innings, giving up one run on two hits and one walk while striking out one Eagle hitter.
