Greensboro, N.C. – Georgia Tech’s Paul Haley has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Golfer of the Month for April.
Haley, a senior from Dallas, Tex. earned the first two individual victories of his career, outdistancing his teammate, Kyle Scott, by one stroke in each event lifting Georgia Tech to team victories in each.
At the Yellow Jacket Classic, played April 16-17 in Alpharetta, Ga., Haley shot a 4-under par 68 on the last day to win medalist honors and lifted Georgia Tech to a 17-stroke victory at the Golf Club of Georgia.
Haley claimed the individual title at the ACC Championship in dramatic fashion with a 15-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole at Old North State Club in New London, N.C., played April 22-24. He finished with a 10-under par 206 score and led his Yellow Jackets to a record-breaking low team score of 33-under par 831. Georgia Tech captured its third straight ACC Men’s Golf Championship and is ranked No. 2 in the nation.
The ACC Men’s Golfer of the Month for April included tournaments played April 1 through May 1, 2011. Georgia Tech golfers have either won or shared the honor each month of the spring season.
