Georgia Tech #ProJackets Golf Report

THE FLATS – Four Yellow Jackets played the weekend at the Desert Classic, three of them under par all four rounds … Three Jackets playing second Web.com Tour event in the Bahamas … This and more in the Georgia Tech #ProJackets Golf Report.

Anders Albertson continued a solid beginning to his rookie season on the PGA Tour, tying for 34th place to pace the seven-man group of Yellow Jackets last weekend at the Desert Classic on LaQuinta, Calif. The four-time All-ACC performer shot 68-69-70-67 (-14) and nudged himself up on spot to No. 61 in the FedEx Cup points standings.

Roberto Castro, back for his second stint on the PGA Tour after a successful Web.com Tour season tied for 40th place with rounds of 71-67-69-68 (-13), while Cameron Tringale fired rounds of 70-71-66-69 (-12) and posted his best finish of the 2018-19 season. Ollie Schniederjans finished 72nd at 5-under-par.

Chesson Hadley (27th in FedEx Cup points), Richy Werenski (32nd) and Seth Reeves (120th) all missed the 54-hole cut.

All seven of those former Jackets move on to compete in the Farmers Insurance Open this weekend at famed Torrey Pines Golf Club in LaJolla, Calif., while Stewart Cink is back in action after skipping last week.

Web.com Tour: Paul Haley II, Nicholas Thompson and Vincent Whaley all had solid opening events last week in the Great Exuma Classic, the first of two events behind held in the Bahamas. Haley, in his second Web.com Tour stint, tied for 24th place (-7), while Whaley, a rookie, tied for 37th (-5). Thompson, a PGA Tour veteran, tied for 45th (-3). All three are in action at the Great Abaco Classic, which began Sunday.

PGA Tour Champions: Larry Mize began his 11th full season on the senior circuit by tying for 35th place (-3) at the Mitsubishi Electric Classic in Hawai’i.
