THE FLATS – Georgia Tech’s golf team, which had nine of its members competing in three states and two countries last week, finished off the busy stretch by having four players finish among the top 11 finishers at the 59th Northeast Amateur in Rumbord, R.I.

Junior Connor Howe (Ogden Utah) closed a stellar tournament with a Saturday round of 65 and finished at 6-under-par 270 on the par-69 Wannamoisett Country Club, three shots off the pace set by Pepperdine’s Dylan Menante, who posted four subpar rounds and a 9-under-par total of 267.

Rising senior Ben Smith (Novi, Mich.) and recent graduate Noah Norton (Chico, Calif.) tied for eighth place at 3-under-par 273. Smith closed with a 66, and Norton, who was just one shot off the lead after 54 holes, posted a closing 73.
