Connor Howe Named to All-ACC Academic Golf Team

All-ACC Academic Men’s Golf Team

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech’s Connor Howe has been named to the 2020-21 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Golf Team, announced Thursday by the conference office.

Howe, a junior from Ogden, Utah, made the All-Academic team for the first time. The business administration major, a consistently strong performer in the classroom, earned a 3.34 GPA in both semesters and earned Faculty Honors during the fall semester.

A regular in the Yellow Jackets’ lineup since his freshman year, Howe was Tech’s highest finisher at the ACC Championship, solo ninth place, with a 3-under-pr 207. He tied for 21st at the NCAA Tallahassee Regional (215, -1), and tied for 71st at the NCAA Championship, where his birdie Tech win a playoff vs. TCU to make the 54-hole cut. Howe was ranked No. 173 nationally in the Golfweek/Sagarin Index, No. 222 in Golfstat at the end of the spring after earning his first career top-10 finish with a tie for seventh at the Amer Ari Intercollegiate, tying for 19th at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate, finishing 26th at the Linger Longer Invitational and tying for 23rd at the Calusa Cup. He posted Tech’s third-best stroke average at 72.61 in a team-high 31 rounds.

Clemson’s Jacob Bridgeman was named the Rod Myers ACC Men’s Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Six student-athletes – Clemson’s Bridgeman and Turk Pettit, Duke’s Ian Siebers, North Carolina’s Austin Greaser, NC State’s Maximilian Steinlechner, and Wake Forest’s Michael Brennan – earned selection to both the All-ACC Team and the All-ACC Academic Team.

The All-ACC Academic team was established in 2006. The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year award was established in September 2007 to be awarded annually to the top junior or senior student-athlete in their respective sports. Four Yellow Jackets have earned that honor – James White (twice), Ollie Schniederjans and Anders Albertson.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
