DH Brandt Stallings popped a 2-run double to left field and LF Ryan Peurifoy hit a high-chopping infield single to give Tech a 5-0 cushion.
• Mercer’s Trey Truitt put the Bears on the board with a lead-off, opposite-field home run in the bottom of the 1st.

Micah Carpenter and Matthew Gorst combined to shut out Mercer over the final three innings.

“The win tonight rights the ship for us. It was certainly a disappointing weekend, but we put it behind us. We jumped on them early with five runs in the first. I felt like (Cole) Pitts – if he could eliminate those home run balls – pitched really well. Micah (Carpenter) was outstanding pitching out trouble and (Matthew) Gorst left the tying run on third and struck two of their best hitters. We beat a really good opponent on the road.” – Georgia Tech head coach Danny Hall on the Jackets’ 6-5 road win

• Sophomore 2B Wade Bailey went 2-for-5 with a solo home run – his fourth of the season.
• Sophomore DH Kel Johnson saw his 22-game hit streak come to end, finishing the night 0-for-4 with a walk.
• Senior RHP Cole Pitts went a season-high 6.0 innings en route to his third win of the season.
• Junior RHP Matthew Gorst’s called strike three to end the game was only his third strikeout looking of the season.
