ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech Women’s Basketball program has unveiled plans to build a state-of-the-art academic center inside the women’s basketball locker room, head coach MaChelle Joseph announced Thursday.
The academic center, made possible by various contributions to the Wreckin’ Crew Academic Center Fund, will be equipped with six computer stations, a group meeting area and a reading space.
“We received numerous donations from some very generous individuals to build an academic center in our locker room at the McCamish Basketball Complex,” Joseph said. “I am very excited and thrilled for our women’s basketball student-athletes.
“We already have some amazing facilities, including the brand new Zelnak Basketball Complex; however our players spend a lot of time in our locker room. It will be a tremendous asset to have an academic center there as well. We are very appreciative and excited to get the process started.”
In addition to the Zelnak Basketball Complex, which houses a full-size basketball court, weight room and theater, the academic center will be a great resource for the student-athletes to keep up with their rigorous academic schedule in the midst of their numerous basketball responsibilities.
The Yellow Jackets will continue their season Sunday afternoon against Virginia Tech. Tip-off at the Alexander Memorial Coliseum is scheduled for 2 p.m.
