Yellow Jackets Return Home To Face Kennesaw State

Georgia Tech Game Notes

The Georgia Tech women’s basketball team (3-0) returns to the Arena at Gwinnett Center to face the Kennesaw State Lady Owls (2-1) in a 7 p.m. contest Tuesday night. The Yellow Jackets and Lady Owls will meet for the seventh time and Tech is seeking to improve to a perfect 7-0 mark against KSU and preserve its undefeated start to the 2011-12 season.

Georgia Tech is coming off a 74-63 win at Marquette on Saturday. The Jackets were led by sophomore Tyaunna Marshall, who tallied team-highs of 19 points, eight rebounds and six assists in the win over the Golden Eagles, becoming the first player to top the team in all three categories since Alex Montgomery did so against MTSU last season.

KSU is coming off an 81-67 home win over Jacksonville State on Saturday. The Lady Owls were led by junior Ashley Holliday with 23 points. Kristina Wells and Taylor Mills each added 17 while Sametria Gideon tossed in 14. Holliday, Mills and Wells each played all 40 minutes while Lisa Capellan was on the court for 36 minutes. KSU head coach Colby Tilley only played six players in the win over Jacksonville State.

On This Date: Georgia Tech is 3-1 when playing on November 22. The three wins: 72-37 vs. Mississippi Valley State (11/22/08); 98-69 vs. Alcorn State (11/22/91); 77-59 at Richmond (11/22/85). The one loss: 74-42 at Maryland (11/22/98)

Tech Against The Atlantic Sun: Georgia Tech owns a 48-18 (.727) all-time record against opponents from the Atlantic Sun Conference. Kennesaw State is the only A-Sun team Tech will play this season.
Head Coach MaChelle Joseph is 10-0 against teams from the A-Sun.

Together We Give: When the Jackets return to the Arena at Gwinnett to face the Kennesaw State Owls (Nov. 22, 7 p.m.), Georgia Tech will be collecting canned food items to donate to the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Fans can bring in one canned item to redeem for a half price ticket. Tech will also be collecting canned food items at the men’s basketball game at the Arena at Gwinnett and at the volleyball game in O’Keefe Gym on Wednesday, Nov. 23.
