GREENSBORO, N.C. – The No. 8 seed Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will open the 2005 ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament this Friday against ninth-seeded Miami at 11 a.m. at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, NC. The North Carolina Tar Heels claimed the No. 1 seed in this weekend’s tournament with a win over Duke this past Sunday.
This year’s tournament is set to tip-off on Friday, March 4 and end with the championship game on Monday, March 7. The ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament will feature two additional games on Friday as Miami and Virginia Tech compete in their first ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament.
Friday:
Game No. 1 – Seed No. 8 Georgia Tech vs. Seed No. 9 Miami, 11:00 a.m. (RSN-TV)
Game No. 2 – Seed No. 7 Virginia Tech vs. Seed No. 10 Wake Forest, 6:00 p.m.
Game No. 3 – Seed No. 6 Maryland vs. Seed No. 11 Clemson, 8:00 p.m.
Saturday:
Game No. 4 – Seed No. 1 North Carolina vs. winner of Game 1, 12:00 noon (RSN-TV)
Game No. 5 – Seed No. 4 Florida State vs. Seed No. 5 Virginia, 2:00 p.m. (RSN-TV)
Game No. 6 – Seed No. 2 Duke vs. winner of Game 2, 6:00 p.m.
Game No. 7 – Seed No. 3 NC State vs. winner of Game 3, 8:00 p.m.
Sunday:
Game No. 8 – ACC Semifinal 1, 1:00 p.m. (FSN)
Game No. 9 – ACC Semifinal 2, 3:00 p.m. (FSN)
Monday:
Game No. 10 – Championship Game, 7:30 p.m. (FSN)
For the second straight year, six of the ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament games will be televised. The No. 8 Georgia Tech vs. No. 9 Miami game on Friday, as well as the first two quarterfinal games on Saturday will be aired on the league’s regional sports networks (Comcast SportsNet, FOX Sports Net South and SUN Sports). Sunday’s semifinals and Monday’s championship game will be televised nationally by FOX Sports Net. This marks the fourth year that the tournament will have three nationally televised match-ups.
