Georgia Tech women’s basketball seeks its first Atlantic Coast Conference win of the season on Thursday when it hosts Virginia for its ACC home-opener. The Yellow Jackets got conference play started last Friday at No. 22 Florida State, dropping a hard-fought, 95-80, decision. Four Yellow Jackets finished in double-figures led by Kara Dunn with 24 points and Kayla Blackshear with 22 points.
Virginia also opened conference play taking on a ranked opponent, hosting No. 3 NC State. The Cavaliers fell, 72-61, in Charlottesville as NC State used a strong third quarter to pull away after the teams held a one-point difference at halftime. Camryn Taylor paces the Cavaliers offensively on the season, averaging 14.4 points per game, while Kymora Johnson contributes 12.0 points per game, respectively. Taylor also leads on the glass, securing 7.2 rebounds per game.
Georgia Tech and Virginia are meeting on the hardwood for the 78th time in program history. The Cavaliers lead the all-time series, 59-18, despite the Jackets taking two of the last three meetings. Last season, Virginia pulled out a 69-63 decision in Charlottesville to snap a two-game skid against Tech.
