THE FLATS — A total of 13 Yellow Jackets saw playing time in Sunday’s women’s basketball exhibition game against Union at McCamish Pavilion as the Jackets handled the Lady Bulldogs, 80-38, in its final preseason tune-up.
How It Happened
The Jackets shook off a slow start in the first quarter to open a double-digit lead in the second frame. Francesca Pan led all scorers at the halftime break with 12 points as the sophomore was 3-for-7 from three-point range at intermission. Union held a five-point advantage early in the second quarter before Tech used a 14-0 run to snag a 26-17 advantage, a lead that expanded to 37-27 at halftime.
Tech outscored Union 43-11 in the second half, leading by as many as 48 points for the final score. For the game, the Jackets were led offensively by Pan with 19 points and Zaire O’Neil with 12 points. Chanin Scott, who earned the start, pulled down a team-best nine rebounds as Tech out-rebounded Union, 46-18. Union was led in scoring by Tiffany Rechis with 15 points. The Jackets shot 53.4 percent (31-58) from the field to Union’s 26.5 percent (13-49).
