GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Georgia Tech women’s basketball team will look to extend its Atlantic Coast Conference win streak to five games on Saturday, when it faces Florida State in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament in Greensboro, N.C. The game between the fifth-seeded Yellow Jackets (19-9, 8-8 ACC) and the fourth-seeded Seminoles (16-11, 8-8 ACC) will tip off at 2 p.m. and be televised on the ACC’s Regional Sports Network, which includes Fox Sports Net South and the Sunshine Network.
The Yellow Jackets concluded the most successful regular season in school history on March 3 with a 77-60 win over Wake Forest. Tech finished league play with an 8-8 record, matching the best ACC record in program history, tying for fourth in the conference standings. The Jackets 19 overall wins on the year are the most in program history.
Tech finished the regular season in grand fashion, winning its last four games of the year to finish tied for fourth in the ACC standings. The Jackets’ formula for success continued to be attacking offensive play and increased defensive pressure, along with controlling the boards.
Against the Demon Deacons, the Jackets held their fourth-straight opponent to 63 points or less, while scoring 70 or more points for the fourth-straight outing. Tech kept its record at a perfect 11-0 when reaching the 70-point plateau in 2003.
Tech first-team All-ACC selection Sonja Mallory capped her home career with stellar outing against Wake, finishing with game-highs of 24 points and 12 rebounds, to go along with a career-high-tying five blocks.
Third-team All-ACC pick Fallon Stokes was equally as impressive against the Deacs, finishing with her second-straight 20-point outing as she netted 23 points and grabbed four rebounds to go along with career bests of four assists and four steals.
Junior guard Megan Isom found her shooting touch from long range, as she netted 14 points in the regular-season finale, hitting on 4-of-7 attempts from beyond the three-point arc.
