Tech Women Begin Trip with 70-32 Win Over University of Costa Rica

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica – Freshmen Janie Mitchell and Chioma Nnamaka scored 11 points each and junior center Kasha Terry contributed 10, all in the second half, to lead Georgia Tech to a 70-32 victory over the University of Costa Rica in the first game of the Yellow Jackets’ trip to Costa Rica.

The Yellow Jackets built a 46-18 halftime lead and allowed just three field goals through the final two quarters to the Costa Rican team in Georgia Tech’s first game of the day, as the team will return to the University later this evening to face the Costa Rican National Team at 8 p.m. (MST)

Mitchell paced the Yellow Jackets at the free-throw line, converting on all seven attempts, as the team went 16-for-26 from the charity stripe in the contest.

Stephanie Higgs contributed seven points to the game, followed by Shantrell Moss and Daphne Mitchell with six points apiece. Jill Ingram, Megan Harpring, Jessica Williams and Cheytoria Phillips all had four points, and Ashley Guerrant rounded out the scoring with a field goal and a free throw.
