ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech women’s basketball team (6-1) will play host to Georgia Southern (3-5) on Sunday, Dec. 9. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET at Alexander Memorial Coliseum.
Fans can follow all the action on WREK radio (91.1FM/www.wrek.org), Georgia Tech women’s basketball’s flagship station.
“We are excited about our match up with Georgia Southern,” head coach MaChelle Joseph said. “It is great to be at home playing in front of our Georgia Tech fans.”
The Yellow Jackets will face Georgia Southern for the first time since defeating the Eagles, 79-66, on Dec. 12, 1994. Tech is only 3-7 against its in-state rival but has won three of the last five meetings. The Jackets are 45-13 all-time against Southern Conference opponents, including a 69-50 season-opening win over Davidson.
Tech enters the game with a perfect 4-0 record at home this season. Under Joseph, the Jackets have at least at least won the first four homes games in four of her first five seasons on the Flats.
“We look forward to go out and try and extend our home game winning streak,” Joseph said. “Our players understand how important it is to defend our home court.”
Tech’s Chioma Nnamaka comes into the game ranked third in the Atlantic Coast Conference, averaging 19.1 points per game. Jacqua Williams leads the conference in steals per game with 3.7.
Fans are asked to bring unopened toys to Sunday’s game to help support the seventh-annual Michael Isenhour toy drive, sponsored by the Georgia Tech Student-Athlete Advisory Board.
