ATHENS, Ga. – After falling behind by nine runs, the 25th-ranked Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets’ late-inning rally wasn’t enough Tuesday night in a 13-5 loss to the Georgia Bulldogs at Foley Field.
Georgia Tech (27-14) saw its 11-game in-state road win streak snapped, while Georgia (22-20) defeated the Yellow Jackets for the third straight time. The Jackets are now 1-13 when allowing eight or more runs in game (nine straight); each of Tech’s last four losses have come with opponents scoring eight or more runs.
Tech starting pitcher Zac Ryan (1-2) was dealt the loss as the junior was tagged for four runs on six hits in 2.0 innings. Freshman Keyton Gibson had the longest outing of any Yellow Jacket; the rookie allowed one unearned run on one hit in 3.2 innings of relief.
THE BASICS
• Tuesday night’s loss in Athens snapped Georgia Tech’s 11-game road winning streak in the state of Georgia.
• Georgia Tech is now 15-5 in its last 20 games against in-state rivals. Georgia Tech is 6-3 against in-state rivals this season.
• Georgia now leads the series 204-160-2 and the Bulldogs have now won the last three meetings.
• Georgia Tech fell to 55-114 all-time in Athens.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Georgia took a 1-0 lead in the 1st with Daniel Nichols’ RBI single to right field.
• The Bulldogs added two more runs in the 2nd for a 3-0 lead. LJ Talley drilled an RBI triple to the corner in right and later scored on Nick King’s RBI sac fly to center.
• Things got worse for the Yellow Jackets in the 3rd as Georgia scored six runs for a 9-0 lead. UGA’s first three runs came via two bases-loaded walks and a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch.
• Georgia Tech finally got on the scoreboard in the 5th. Trevor Craport led off with a double to right-center. Three batters later, Craport scored on Connor Justus’ RBI single through the left side.
• Tech hung a 3-spot in the 7th to cut the deficit to 9-4. Brandt Stallings hit a 2-RBI triple to right-center to score Joey Bart and Craport. Ryan Peurifoy then plated Stallings with an RBI ground out.
• UGA responded with a solo home run in the bottom of the 7th for a 10-4 lead.
• Arden Pabst crushed a lead-off home run in the 8th to cut UGA’s lead to 10-5.
• Georgia plated three insurance runs in the 8th.
