TEAM NOTES
- Georgia Tech earned its first victory under new head coach Josh Pastner, who won the 168th game of his career.
- Tech won the game without veteran guards Josh Heath (suspension) and Tadric Jackson (hamstring injury). Ten Yellow Jackets saw action in the game, seven played double-digit minutes, eight players made the scoring column.
- Tech shot 69.2 percent from the floor in the second half, 56.0 percent for the game, while holding Tennessee Tech to 33.3 percent for the game and under 40 percent in each half.
- Tech turned the ball over just four times in the second half after committing 11 miscues in the first half.
- Tech scored 40 of its 70 points in the paint.
- Tech gave up 21 offensive rebounds, but Tennessee Tech converted them into just 13 second-chance points.
- Tech assisted in 17 of its 28 made field goals (60.7 percent). Head coach Josh Pastner’s objective each game is for the Jackets to assist on 60 percent of their field goals.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
- After red-shirting the 2015-16 season and playing just eight games in 2014-15, Abdoulaye Gueye made his first collegiate start Friday night against Tennessee Tech. He scored just four points in those eight games as a freshman, and had four tonight. He also had four rebounds and four assists.
- Ben Lammers (55 games in two previous seasons) also made his first career start against Tennessee Tech, as did freshmen Justin Moore and Josh Okogie.
- Okogie led Tech with 18 points, hitting 7-of-9 shots from the floor, and grabbed five rebounds in his collegiate debut.
- Lammers scored a career-high 15 points, also hitting 7-of-9 shots from the floor. He scored 10 points twice last season (Arkansas, Syracuse). Lammers also blocked five shots, a career high, and grabbed eight rebounds.
- Quinton Stephens was Tech’s third double-figure scored with 12 points (5-of-7 from the foul line), the 17th double-figure scoring game of his career.
- Corey Heyward established career high with eight points (Boston College, 2/13/14) in the first 15 minutes of the first half.
- Moore had four assists and just one turnover in 32 minutes. Stephens and Gueye also had four assists each.
