THE FLATS – Georgia Tech redshirt-senior Coleman Poje earned a spot on the 2016-17 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Baseball Team, it was released today.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
A two-time ACC Academic Honor Roll member, Poje earned a spot on the District 4 Academic Team as an outfielder. He will be graduating with a degree in industrial engineering this Saturday, May 6.
Poje broke into the starting lineup early in the season and has not left it having started each of the last 31 games for the Jackets. The Atlanta native has posted career highs this year in hits (40), home runs (9), doubles (10), RBIs (20) and runs scored (26) this season, while hitting .272 at the plate. He is second on the team with a .524 slugging percentage and has posted a fielding percentage of .991 on the year, which includes two outfield assists.
Poje was also twice named academic all-conference while at the Air Force Academy before transferring to Tech.
The redshirt-senior is the first CoSIDA Academic All-District selection for the Jackets since Brandon Thomas in 2013 and is the 24th honoree all time.
First-Team Academic All-District™ honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third team All-America® honorees will be selected later this month.
