HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Jackets made it a two-run game in the seventh when Matt Gonzalez slapped a two-run double to the gap in right.
• Tech tried to a trigger a rally in the ninth as Kennan Innis led off with a single to left, but Pitt’s Rich Condeelis finished off the Jackets by getting three consecutive outs to nail down the save.
• Zac Ryan did his best to keep Tech within striking distance at 8-6, as he allowed a single and a walk to load the bases with no outs in the eighth before picking off a runner at second base and getting two straight punchouts to end the inning.
• For the second straight game in the series, Pitt grabbed an early lead with two runs in the first.
• Ryan Peuifoy’s 2-run single to right tied the game at 2-2 in the second, but Pitt regained the lead with an RBI single from Jordan Frabasilio in the third.
