THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s tennis remained undefeated at home on Sunday picking up a 7-0 victory over Louisville. With the win, the eighth-ranked Jackets improved to 13-2 overall and 4-0 in ACC play.
DOUBLES ACTION: Georgia Tech cruised to comfortable 4-0 advantages on courts two and three to open doubles play. The tandems on court three, Alexa Anton-Ohlmeyer and Nami Otsuka facing Louisville’s Tiffany Huber and Olivia Boesing, held serve over the next three games as the Jackets took the match 6-2. Paige Hourigan and Kenya Jones led 4-0 before conceding a game, but held strong for a 6-2 victory on court two to clinch the doubles point for Georgia Tech and picked up their 12th dual win of the season.
SINGLES PLAY: Trailing 2-3 on court five, Otsuka battled back and took the next three games to pull ahead 5-3 and took the first set 6-3. The freshman gave Tech a 2-0 match lead with a 6-3 second set victory. Jones wrapped up second to push the Jackets in front, 3-0. Jones, ranked No. 95 in the country, topped Stokes on court four 6-1, 6-4 for her 10th dual win of the season. Battling on court three, Hourigan clinched the match for Tech. The junior, ranked No. 91, defeated Pahz in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, for a 4-0 Jacket lead.
On court two, McAdoo answered a 2-3 deficit in the second set, winning the next three games to pull ahead 5-3. McAdoo sealed the straight set win, 6-3, 6-3 for a 5-0 Georgia Tech lead. Playing in her first dual singles match of the season, senior Anton-Ohlmeyer picked up the win with a straight set triumph over Boesing. The senior won a hard-fought first set tiebreak 7-3 and grabbed the second set 7-5 for the win. Renaud completed singles action on court one winning both sets 7-5 to complete the sweep over the Cardinals.
QUOTABLE: “It was a good team victory today. I felt like all around we played a good level of tennis. Louisville competed really hard, so it was a good match. Obviously we are glad to come out with a victory. Now we have to get ready for another really tough ACC match against Miami on Tuesday.” – Head Coach Rodney Harmon
