No. 6 Jackets Cruise Past No. 28 NC State, 7-0

RALEIGH, N.C. – The sixth-ranked Georgia Tech women’s tennis team rolled to a 7-0 victory over No. 28 NC State Friday afternoon. The Jackets improved to 23-3 overall with the win and 13-0 in the ACC.

DOUBLES ACTION: For the 20th time this season, Tech opened the match claiming the doubles point for the early lead. The Yellow Jacket pair of Nami Otsuka and Alexa Anton-Ohlmeyer rolled to a 6-1 victory on court three over Amanda Rebol/Adriana Reami before the No. 21 pair of Rasheeda McAdoo and Johnnise Renaud clinched the point at the two seed. The Jackets edged Bianca Moldovan/Claudia Wiktorin, 6-2, to put Tech on top.

SINGLES PLAY: Tech captured all six singles victories to secure the sweep of the Wolfpack. Once again, Otsuka wrapped up first, dominating Rebol on court five in a 6-1, 6-0 triumph. The Jackets went up 3-0 when No. 83 Renaud topped Wiktorin at court two, 6-3, 6-2. Luca Fabian clinched the match at court six when her opponent, Tayla Stenta, was forced to retire.

Playing at the top seed, No. 47 McAdoo defeated No. 73 Frantova, 6-3, 6-3, before Kenya Jones proved victorious on court four, winning 6-3, 7-5 over Moldovan. Tech completed the sweep of singles when Paige Hourigan defeated Reami on court three, 10-8, in a match tiebreak.
