>> The ACC’s two top offenses collide this weekend in Atlanta as Georgia Tech welcomes No. 2 North Carolina for an important three-game series at Russ Chandler Stadium.
>> The series is underway Friday at 7 p.m., continues Saturday at 6 p.m. and wraps up Sunday at 1 p.m. on the Yellow Jackets’ Senior Day. All three games can be seen live on ESPN3, while Nolan Alexander and Wade Rogers have the call on WREK.
>> The Jackets are 7-3 over the last 10 games versus the Tar Heels, including a series win at Boshamer Stadium last April. It’s the last time UNC has lost a series overall. Tech leads the overall series 68-55 and is 40-28 versus the Heels under head coach Danny Hall.
>> Junior C/RHP Zane Evans brings a 11-game hitting streak into the weekend and included in the streak is a 6-for-6, two-homer, four-RBI performance at Clemson.
>> Junior RF Daniel Palka is on a late-season tear, slugging 1.040 over Tech’s last six games with three doubles, two triples, three homers and 14 RBI. Eight of his last 10 hits have gone for extra bases and he’s scored eight runs.
>> Tech has four players among the ACC’s top 10 in hitting, led by senior CF Brandon Thomas at .375 (fifth). Palka (14) and Evans (13) lead the league in homers and slugging. Kyle Wren is second in the ACC in steals (24) and paces the league with a .400 average in conference play.
>> Senior RHP Buck Farmer makes his third career start Friday versus North Carolina, and he’s 2-0 against the Heels with a 1.20 ERA — that includes eight shutout innings in 2011 in Atlanta.
