TOP STORYLINES
• Riding a three-game winning streak, No. 11 Georgia Tech continues its homestand by hosting ACC Atlantic Division-foe Clemson on April 26-28.
• The Jackets are coming off a hard-fought series win at Virginia Tech and an exciting series-clinching win over No. 4 Georgia on Tuesday at SunTrust Park.
• Georgia Tech now owns five top-5 wins and nine top-25 wins. Tech owns 11 wins against the D1Baseball’s current top -25 rankings, more than any other team in the country.
• Tech has faced four of the top five teams nationally in fewest hits allowed/9 innings (Georgia, UCLA, Louisville, West Virginia) a whopping 10 times and is 6-4 in the matchups. (Note courtesy of “Voice of the Yellow Jackets” Andy Demetra)
• GT and Clemson have faced off 226 times since their first meeting in 1902. Tech has only played Georgia and Auburn more in its program history.
• Clemson owns a 114-109-3 all-time advantage however, the Jackets are 74-44-2 when playing on The Flats.
• Over the last two weeks, Tech’s starting rotation of Xzavion Curry, Connor Thomas and Brant Hurter have a combined ERA of 2.79 and a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 3.08.
• Offensively, Jackson Webb has exploded of the last seven starts he’s made, batting .379 for 11 hits, two doubles and a triple for five RBI. He’s currently sporting an OPS of .958.
• Luke Waddell continues to kickstart things from leadoff, hitting .341 over the last 10 games for 14 hits, two doubles a triple, 10 RBI and six runs. He’s struck out just four times in 41 at-bats.
• Austin Wilhite is also giving the back-half of the order production by hitting .286 in his last 10 games, nabbing 11 hits and one double, while also scoring 10 times. He’s a perfect 5-for-5 in stolen bases over the stretch.
• Tristin English continues to bring power at five hits, a double and two home runs in his last 10 games.
• English took a hard hit-by-pitch on April 29 and remains day-to-day on his return to the field. He returned to the lineup on Tuesday as the designated hitter and also pitched a six-out save.
• Outfielder Chase Murray returned after missing 18 games due to an injury, appearing in three games last weekend as the designated hitter, getting one hit and an RBI. He did not play Tuesday.
