GREENSBORO, N.C. – Georgia Tech will visit Maryland in the 2018 ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Thursday, November 29, 2018. The ACC, in conjunction with the Big Ten Conference, announced the full lineup of matchups for the 12th annual Challenge on Monday. A game time will be announced at a later date.
The 14 Challenge games will be played over a two-day period, Nov. 28 and 29. All 14 Big Ten teams and 14 of the 15 ACC teams will participate in this year’s matchups.
Tech is 7-4 all-time in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, including a 5-1 record at home after defeating Purdue last season. The Jackets have recorded wins against Illinois (2013), Nebraska (2011), Northwestern (2010), Penn State (2009), Michigan State (2008) and Iowa (2007) prior to the victory over the Boilermakers a year ago.
Last year, the ACC won its eighth women’s Challenge title, combining for a record 10 wins as the league posted a 10-4 mark. Overall, the ACC owns an 81-55 mark in Challenge games since its inception in the 2007-08 season.
Former conference foes, Georgia Tech and Maryland will meet for the 68th time in program history and first since 2014. This will mark the first-ever meeting between the foes in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
Georgia Tech returns seven letterwinners from last season’s squad that went 20-14 overall and made its 11th postseason appearance in 12 years, reaching the third round of the WNIT. The Jackets add six newcomers to the roster.
