THE FLATS – Georgia Tech indoor track and field heads back to Clemson, S.C., this weekend when it competes in the Bob Pollock Invitational on Jan. 26-27.
The Yellow Jackets will join No. 5 men’s/No. 14 women’s Alabama, Auburn, J.C. Smith, North Carolina, NC State, Pittsburgh, No. 16 women’s Tennessee and Virginia Tech.
The women in Clemson last week were led by Jeanine Williams’ time in the 60m hurdles, running an 8.02 time to top the ACC, while Madeline Hammond finishing tied-eighth with a personal-best performance of 1.60 meters in the high jump. Over at the Vanderbilt Invitational, Nicole Fegans paced Tech in the 3000 meters with a ninth-place 9:45.47 time.
For the men, Hunter Mallard finished fourth in the pole vault with a personal-best height of 4.75 meters before William Solomon placed eighth in the long jump with a personal-best distance of 7.32 meters. In the triple jump, Preston Smith led Tech with a personal-best mark of 14.02 meters (eighth) while William Solomon finished 10th with a distance of 13.18 meters – setting a new PR as well. At Vanderbilt, Nahom Solomon impressed with a third-place time of 8:04.71 in the 3000 meters.
Four events will kick off at 2:30 p.m. on Friday with the remainder of events taking place Saturday.
