Jackets Host Second-Ranked Duke Wednesday

ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech women’s basketball team, winners of six of their last eight games, will play host to the nation’s second-ranked team, the Duke Blue Devils, Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Alexander Memorial Coliseum.

The game can be heard on WREK-Radio, 91.1 FM in Atlanta, and online at www.wrek.org. Livestats for the contest will be available at www.ramblinwreck.com.

The 11-3 Yellow Jackets are looking for their first win in ACC play (0-2) against the undefeated Blue Devils, who enter with a 14-0 mark on the season and a 3-0 record against conference opponents.

The Jackets and Blue Devils will be meeting for the 55th time on the basketball court, with Duke holding the 47-7 edge in the series. Tech will be seeking its first win in 26 games, dating back to February 27, 1994.

Chioma Nnamaka continues to lead the team in scoring, as she is averaging 12.4 points per game, while Stephanie Higgs is adding 11.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.9 steals per contest. Sophomore Janie Mitchell leads the squad in rebounding, with 7.7 per game, and is third in the scoring column, averaging 10.9 points per game.

Point guard Jill Ingram leads the team in assists and steals per game, with 3.5 and 2.4 respectively, while Kasha Terry against paces the Jackets with 1.9 blocks per contest.

Coming off the bench, point guard Jacqua Williams has played a vital role in the Georgia Tech backcourt, with 6.1 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 1.8 assists per game.

Following the contest against Duke, the Jackets will participate in the Russell Athletic Shootout at the Gwinnett Arena this Sunday, facing the Kentucky Wildcats at 12:30 p.m.
