Atlanta – The Yellow Jackets take on the Panthers of Georgia State Thursday at the Alexander Memorial Coliseum in the second part of a men’s and women’s double header. The men’s game will tip off at 6 p.m. with the women following 30 minutes after the conclusion of that game.
The Jackets lead the series with Georgia State, 18-and-11, and have not lost to them since 1998 when the Panthers defeated Tech 66-56 in the AMC. Tech won last year’s contest, 60-51, with Chioma Nnamaka notching 22 points, going 4-for-7 from three-point range.
The Panthers, who are 0-and-1 this season, return eight letterwinners, including two starters from their 2005 squad. Georgia State head coach, Lea Henry is in her 13th season with the Panthers, amassing a 195-153 record at the school.
Georgia Tech, 2-and-0, is coming off another impressive victory, downing Appalachian State 79-53 Tuesday in Boone, N.C. Nnamaka was the leading scorer in the win with 22 points, 15 of those points coming from distance. Nnamaka is shooting 62.5 percent from three-point range, draining 10-of-16, through Tech’s first two games this season.
Tickets for Thursday’s game, $4 for adults and $2 for children and senior citizens, can be purchased at the door.
