>> Bringing the 2014 regular season to a close this weekend, Georgia Tech steps out of ACC action to host South Florida in a three-game series that begins Thursday night at Russ Chandler Stadium.
>> The games Thursday and Friday begin at 7 p.m., with Saturday’s regular-season finale set for 1 p.m. All three games air on ESPN3. Senior Day ceremonies on Saturday begin at 12:40 p.m.
>> The Yellow Jackets, coming off Tuesday night’s 2-0 win over Georgia at Turner Field in front of 21,310, are 30-23 overall and finished 14-16 in ACC play.
>> Behind one of the ACC’s best middle infield duos of 2B Mott Hyde and SS Connor Justus, Tech is tied for the NCAA lead in double plays with 62. The Jackets are fielding .971 overall (.975 in ACC).
>> Hyde, who leads all active NCAA players in career games (241) and career starts (241), brings a 31-game reached-base streak into the series, which is the longest currently in the ACC.
>> With 68 hits and seven triples, junior Daniel Spingola leads the ACC in both categories. Spingola’s 43 hits in ACC play are also a league-high. He is hitting .318 overall, 15th in the conference.
