RALEIGH, N.C. – The Georgia Tech women’s basketball team will conclude its two-game road trip Sunday in Raleigh, facing the N.C. State Wolfpack. The Jackets left for Boston Wednesday afternoon for a Thursday night game against the BC Eagles and then traveled from Boston to Raleigh Friday for the second game of the five-day road trip. The Jackets and `Pack will meet at Reynolds Coliseum at 2 p.m.
The Jackets can be heard on the Georgia Tech ISP Radio Network (91.1 WREK-FM in Atlanta) and online at www.wrek.org, with Richard Musterer calling the play-by-play and director of women’s basketball operations LaChina Robinson providing the color analysis. Livestats for all Georgia Tech games can be found at www.ramblinwreck.com.
Tech enters the contest with a 13-10 record after dropping a two-point contest to the Eagles Thursday evening. It was the Yellow Jackets’ first loss in the history of the series with the Eagles, and Tech fell to 2-8 in league play this season.
N.C. State enters the game with a 14-9 record after snapping a three-game losing streak with a victory over Wake Forest in Raleigh Thursday night. The Wolfpack stand at 4-6 in conference play this season.
Sunday’s game will be the 54th meeting between the two schools, as the Wolfpack leads the series, 38-15, with the last meeting coming on February 10, 2005 in Atlanta. This will be the only meeting of the 2005-06 regular season between the two schools.
In that game, five players on NC State’s roster scored in double figures, including Marquetta Dickens, who led the `Pack with 17 points in an 83-59 victory over Georgia Tech at Alexander Memorial Coliseum.
The Jackets’ last win against the Wolfpack was on February 26, 2004, 76-61, in Atlanta. NC State has won the only game since that contest. Tech’s last win against the Wolfpack in Raleigh was on February 27, 2003.
Following Sunday afternoon’s game against the Wolfpack, the Jackets will return to Atlanta for their final regular-season home game, facing Virginia Tech Sunday, February 19th, at 2 p.m.
