ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech women’s basketball team hits the road for its final two regular season games this week, beginning with a matchup with the Virginia Cavaliers in Charlottesville Thursday at 7 p.m. before continuing on to Miami to face the Hurricanes in a Regionally-Televised contest Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Jackets will be looking for their ninth win in the series with Virginia, and their second in Charlottesville. Tech and Virginia have split the last two games in the series, with Virginia taking the only contest between the two schools last season, 61-38.
Sophomore Chioma Nnamaka is leading the Jackets in scoring this season, with 13.0 points per game, including averaging 23 points in the last three contests. Junior Stephanie Higgs joins the Uppsala, Sweden native in double-figures, averaging 11.2 points and 5.0 rebounds per game this season.
Senior Kasha Terry (5.3 rpg/2.0 bpg) and sophomore Janie Mitchell (6.8 rpg) are pacing the Jackets on the boards, while second-year point guard Jill Ingram leads the squad in assists (78) and steals (52).
Following this week’s two-game road trip, the Jackets will head to Greensboro for the ACC Tournament, which begins March 2nd.
