Howard, Ingram and Stojanovska Named Wendy's Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week

ATLANTA – Swimming stars Jason Howard and Vesna Stojanovska along with women’s basketball standout Jill Ingram were named the Wendy’s Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week for Monday, January 24, 2005.

Howard, a junior from Snellville, Ga., led the Georgia Tech men’s swimming and dving team to a victory over Clemson last Saturday afternoon. A native of Snellville, Ga., Howard swam a NCAA ‘B’ qualifying standard time of 1:38.90 in the 200-yard freestyle and finished first in the 100 free with a lifetime-best time of 45.35. Howard also led the Tech 400 free relay team to victory in the final race with a leadoff split time of 45.32.

Ingram, a freshman from Charlotte N.C., led the Jackets with 20 points at Duke while hitting 4-of-8 from beyond the three-point arc and recording four rebounds, four steals and three assists against the top-ranked team in the country. The freshman had 10 points, seven rebounds and two assists at Miami as the Jackets posted its 400th career win. On the week, she averaged 15.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals per contest while shooting 44 percent from the field and 50 percent from beyond the three-point arc.

Stojanovska, a sophomore from Skopje, Macedonia, led the Yellow Jackets to their first win over Clemson in the women’s four-year history with a pair of first-place finishes and swam the leadoff leg of the winning 400 free relay team. The 2004 Macedonia Olympian broke the school record in the 200-yard freestyle with a NCAA ‘B’ cut time of 1:49.22. Stojanovska posted a second NCAA `B’ standard in the meet with a time of 4:52.05 in the 500 free to win her second event of the afternoon and led off the 400 free relay team with a season-best time of 52.03.
