Hamilton-Carter Leads Sweden Past Russia

July 18, 2010

Danielle Hamilton-Carter scored 15 points to lead Sweden to their first victory at the U20 European Championship by beating Russia 71-61 in Grobina Saturday.

Hamilton-Carter also grabbed seven rebounds but it was not enough as Sweden were already condemned to last place in Group B and will face off against Bulgaria, Germany and Romania to avoid demotion to Division B.

Frida Fogdemark scored five points but led her team with 10 rebounds, including eight defensive boards in 31 minutes.

Sweden will take on Germany Monday afternoon at the Grobina Sports Hall.
