Hamilton-Carter Helps Sweden to Win over Bulgaria

Danielle Hamilton-Carter scored a team-high 14 points to lead Swedent to a 72-52 win over Bulgaria Wednesday at the U20 European Championships in Grobiņa, Latvia.

Hamilton-Carter, who ranks seventh among all scorers at the championships at 14.3 a game, also grabbed two rebounds and recorded two assists. Incoming freshman Frida Fogdemark struggled from the field but added eight points and six rebounds in the win.

Sweden used a 13-0 run in the second quarter to grab control of the game with a 15-point lead.

Bulgaria trimmed the deficit to seven points in the third quarter, but the Swedes went on a 12-2 spurt to start the fourth period to put Bulgaria away for good.

Sweden will get a day off before taking on Germany Friday in Grobiņa.
