Georgia Tech rising sophomore Danielle Hamilton-Carter and incoming freshman Frida Fogdemark helped their U20 Swedish National team to a 2-1 record this past week at the Pesaro Tournament in Italy.
Fogdemark averaged 13 points and Hamilton-Carter notched 12 points a contest in the warm-up tournament for the 2010 European Championships in Latvia from July 15-25.
Hamilton-Carter led her team to an opening game 62-51 win over Romania after scoring 12 points. Fogdemark added six points in the victory. The Swedish team opened up its lead in the second quarter by outscoring Romania, 23-6 and cruised to the win.
The U20 Swedish National team defeated Greece, 67-44, in its second game. The team from Scandinavia opened the game with a 16-11 run, but Greece responded with 13-11 run of their own in the second frame. Sweden took the lead for good in the third quarter and never looked back. They managed to erupt with 25-9 to seal the victory. Fogdemark led all the Swedes with 20 points, while Hamilton-Carter delivered 15.
In the final game of the tournament, Italy snuck past Sweden with a 43-42 win. Fogdemark led her team for the second straight game with 14 points and Hamilton-Carter added 10 points but it was not enough to win the tournament.
