ATLANTA (AP) – Kaela Davis had 18 points and nine rebounds, but No. 25 Syracuse beat Georgia Tech 65-60 on Sunday.
Georgia Tech (14-10, 4-6) went on an 8-2 run in the final minute but never threatened as Davis’ 3-pointer that cut the final margin to five came in the final second.
Syracuse (17-7, 7-4 ACC) secured the victory by making 5 of 6 free throws in the final two minutes. Brianna Butler and Alexis Peterson had 14 points each.
Briana Day added 12 points for the Orange, who took control with an 8-0 run to lead 50-35 on Peterson’s basket with 13:22 left. The Yellow Jackets didn’t get within single digits after that spurt until Zaire O’Neil’s jumper made it 60-52 with 1:38 to go.
Aaliyah Whiteside added 17 and six for Georgia Tech. Zaire O’Neil scored 10.
