LEADING OFF

• Georgia Tech’s lone midweek loss this season came to the Auburn Tigers back on March 21 at Russ Chandler Stadium in Atlanta, Ga. The Jackets are 4-1 in midweek Tuesday night games this season having had two contests canceled due to inclement weather.

• Tuesday night’s meeting will be the second of the season between these two teams this year. Georgia Tech fell to then No. 19 Auburn 7-4 back on Mar. 21 in Atlanta, Ga.

• Tech’s road contest at Auburn on Tuesday night will be the third non-conference midweek road tilt for the Jackets this season. Tech is 2-0 in midweek road games this year with wins at Georgia Southern (Feb. 21) and at Mercer (Mar. 28).

• Junior second baseman Wade Bailey ranks fourth nationally in runs scored with 36 overall on the season. He is also tied for the most runs scored in the ACC with the 36 runs.

• When the Jackets hold their opponents to five runs or less Tech is undefeated. Georgia Tech is a perfect 12-0 overall when holding its opponents to five runs or less for the contest on the year.

• The Yellow Jackets as a team are ranked in the top 50 nationally in six different offensive categories – fifth in home runs (44), sixth in slugging percentage (.518), sixth in doubles (69), 35th in batting average (.302), 37th in hits (289) and 47th in runs scored (193).

• The Jackets are coming of a loss to No. 5 Clemson last time out on Sunday afternoon. Tech is 7-3 this season in games following a loss this season.

• Defense has played a key for Tech this season, as the Yellow Jackets are 8-1 on the year when not committing an error for the game. Tech is just 7-10 on the season when making one or more errors for the game.

• Georgia Tech used nine different pitchers last time out in the loss to No. 5 Clemson on Sunday in the three-game ACC weekend series finale. Only one pitcher threw more than one inning in the nine-inning contest. It is the second most pitchers that the Jackets have used in a single game this season (10 at Miami on Mar. 12).

• A total of 11 different players have hit a home run this season for the Yellow Jackets led by Joey Bart who has recorded a team-high 11 home runs on the season. In contrast, the Auburn Tigers’ pitching staff has only allowed 10 home runs all year, three of which came to Georgia Tech back in the two teams’ first meeting on March 21.

NO STRANGERS IN AUBURN

• The Yellow Jackets and Auburn Tigers are no strangers, as the two teams have met a total of 233 times on the baseball diamond in Tech’s history. Auburn is the second most-played opponent for the Jackets behind only Georgia (367).
