THE FLATS – For the second consecutive week, freshman Francesca Pan has been tabbed the ACC Rookie of the Week. Pan helped lead Georgia Tech to a 2-0 week last week, notching wins at Boston College and over No. 24 Syracuse.
In the two games, Pan averaged 14.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game. The Bassano del Grappa, Italy native opened the week scoring a team-best 17 points in a 71-67 victory at Boston College. Pan connected on 7-of-16 from the field and recorded a career-best six steals against the Eagles.
On Sunday, the freshman added 11 points in Tech’s first-ever victory over Syracuse, as the Jackets topped the No. 24 Orange 75-66 in McCamish Pavilion. Pan was 3-of-4 from three-point range in the win, hitting triples at crucial moments in the victory. She finished with four rebounds and a block against the Orange.
Pan is now second on the team in scoring, averaging 11.2 points per game.
The weekly ACC honor marks the third for Pan and fourth for Georgia Tech this season. Pan also picked up the accolade a week ago (1/9/17) and following the Junkanoo Jam in November where she was named Tournament MVP. Classmate Chanin Scott received the honor on Dec. 12.
Georgia Tech returns to action visiting No. 9/8 Louisville for a midweek matchup on Wednesday. Tips is slated for 7 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
