Francesca Pan Named to ACC All-Freshman Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Georgia Tech’s freshman guard Francesca Pan was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team on Tuesday as voted upon by the Blue Ribbon Panel. Pan is one of eight freshman in the league to be named to the team.

Francesca Pan had an outstanding freshman season,” stated head coach MaChelle Joseph. “She is versatile and can score in so many ways. The thing that separates her beyond her skill set is her toughness and maturity for a freshman. She is an outstanding student-athlete and has excelled in her first year on The Flats in the classroom and on the court. We are very proud of her and look forward to seeing what impact she can have on our program and the ACC over the next three years.”

Pan has been named to the ACC All-Freshman Team by the Blue Ribbon Panel, which consists of media and school representatives, after an impressive collegiate debut campaign. Pan is currently second on the team in scoring, averaging 11.0 points per game and leads all freshmen in the ACC in scoring this season. She has recorded five 20-plus point games, including scoring a career-high 25 points versus Dayton in the Junkanoo Jam in November where she was named Tournament MVP.

In conference only games, the Italian native averaged 11.3 ppg to lead all freshmen and ranks 29th amongst all scorers in the ACC. Currently on a five-game streak scoring in double-figures, Pan has scored 20-plus points three times in the last five games. On the season, Pan has recorded 15 games scoring in double-figures and has started 27-of-28 games she has appeared in.

Throughout the course of the 2016-17 season, Pan has garnered five ACC Rookie of the Week honors, becoming the first Yellow Jacket since the 2010-11 season to earn five weekly honors.

Pan is only the 11th Yellow Jacket in program history to be named to the ACC All-Freshman Team and first since 2014 to earn the recognition. She is the seventh Yellow Jacket to earn the honor under head coach MaChelle Joseph. The ACC will announces its Player, Freshman and Coach of the Year as selected by the Blue Ribbon Panel on Wednesday (March 1). The ACC coaches Defensive and Sixth Player of the Year will also be announced on Wednesday.

Pan and the Yellow Jackets are back in action opening the 2017 ACC Tournament on Wednesday, March 1 facing Boston College at 3:30 p.m. The tournament will take place in Conway, S.C. at the HTC Center.
