SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Georgia Tech track and field notched five All-ACC honors on the final day of the 2017 ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships. The women’s team finished 13th with a total of 14 points. The men’s squad took 10th with 28 points, an improvement from last season’s 13th-place finish with 25 points.

“I don’t know if I could be more proud of this team, said men’s head coach Grover Hinsdale. “For three straight days they came into this arena and posted great performance after great performance. We had many personal records throughout the weekend. Just very proud of the way they supported each other and the way we competed.”

“We didn’t have enough scoring opportunities today to hold onto our team place coming into the last day of competition,” said women’s head coach Alan Drosky. “The hurdlers were outstanding with Kenya and Jeanine racing very well. We dropped some places from last year, but so many women are getting closer to contributing at this meet. We’ll get back to work on Monday for the outdoor championships.”

Kenya Collins and Andreas Ward kicked off the day for the Jackets with back-to-back sixth-place finishes in the women’s and men’s 60m hurdles. The pair both earned All-ACC Second Team honors.

Freshman Benjamin Jean grabbed All-ACC Second Team honors with a sixth-place finish in the 400m finals, racing a career-best time of 47.18.

Avery Bartlett and Andres Littig earned All-ACC Second Team honors in the men’s 800m. Bartlett posted a career-best time of 1:47.32 in his fourth-place finish. Littig took sixth with a time of 1:49.70. Preston Smith registered a career-best mark of 15.11m in the triple jump for an eighth-place finish.
