ATLANTA – Curtis Dupart, Stephanie England and Janie Mitchell were named Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week for Monday, February 19, 2007.
Dupart, a freshman from Woodinville, Wash., led the Tech baseball team to three victories last week. He had six hits including four extra-base hits and seven RBI’s in the three games he played. Dupart had a .917 slugging percentage and .571 on-base percentage for the week. He also recorded 10 putouts and had one outfield assist.
England, a junior from Titusville, Fla., became the first female diver to garner All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors last weekend at the Women’s ACC Swimming and Diving Championships. She finished third on the three-meter springboard with a NCAA Zone Diving Championship qualifying mark of 293.25. She also made the finals in the one-meter springboard event, posting a score of 265.85 to finish sixth.
Mitchell, a junior from Jackson, Miss., had back-to-back 20 point outings scoring 20 points in a win over NC State and adding 22 in a road win over Miami. She also led the Jackets in rebounding and earned a team-high four assists against the Hurricanes. Mitchell has now scored 20 or more points in six games this season and is averaging 14.2 points per contest. She also leads the team with 6.5 rebounds per game.
