THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s basketball freshman forward Elizabeth Dixon was named Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Rookie of the Week Monday as voted on by the Blue Ribbon Panel.
Dixon helped Tech to a 1-1 week in league play. She opened the week with a career-best performance against Duke, dropping a career-high 22 points to go along with a personal-best 17 rebounds for her fourth double-double. In addition, the Memphis, Tenn., native logged a career-best four blocks and four assists to lead the Jackets past the Blue Devils, 70-64. She followed that performance with six rebounds and three points at No. 2 Louisville.
On the week, Dixon led Tech in rebounding, averaging 11.5 rebounds per game, and was second on the team in scoring with 12.5 points per game. On the season, Dixon leads the team in rebounding (7.4 rpg) and is third in scoring (10.6 ppg). She also leads the team in double-doubles.
This marks the second weekly honor for Dixon, who earned her first accolade the week of Nov. 19. Dixon shares the honor this week with Makayla Dickens of Boston College. Syracuse’s Tiana Mangakahia earned Player of the Week honors after posting a triple-double.
Georgia Tech continues this road swing traveling to Clemson for a Thursday tilt. Tip is set for 7 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
