Day 1 Results: Clemson | Vanderbilt
THE FLATS – Georgia Tech indoor track and field had strong outings as it concluded its first day of competition at the Clemson Invitational and Vanderbilt Invitational on Friday evening.
The Yellow Jackets continue action in Clemson, S.C., and Nashville, Tenn., as both meets conclude on Saturday, Jan. 20.
Women’s Highlights
Clemson Invitational –
Junior Jeanine Williams continued to impress in the 60m hurdles, battling to set personal-bests in both the prelims and the finals. Willliams finished second in prelims with an 8.15 time before resetting her record with an 8.02 second-place finish in finals. Raven Stewart finished seventh in finals with a time of 8.40 after an eighth-place finish (8.45) in prelims.
Vanderbilt Invitational –
Freshman Marie Repasy paced the Yellow Jackets in the 5000 meters, turning in a time of 17:54.21 (12th place). Three more Jackets finished in the top 20 as Rebecca Dow (18:26.00) finished 16th, Rebecca Entrekin (18:35.73) finished 17th and Gabrielle Gusmerotti (18:45.90) finished 20th.
Men’s Highlights
Clemson Invitational –
In the prelim 60m hurdles, Andreas Ward was the lone Jacket in the top 10, finishing ninth with a time of 8.03. Sophomore Tyson Spears also finished in the top 10 of the 60m dash, turning in a time of 6.91.
Vanderbilt Invitational –
Sam Costa led Georgia Tech in the 5000 meters by placing fifth overall with a personal-best time of 14:45.10. Freshman Braeden Collins also finished in the top 10 with a seventh-place time of 14:52.71 while Ryan Miller rounded out Tech’s performers with a 12th-place time of 15:25.78.
