THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s basketball will add transfer guard Bianca Jackson to its 2022-23 roster, head coach Nell Fortner announced on Wednesday.
“We are really excited about having Bianca Jackson join our team,” Fortner said. “Her experience in the ACC will be very instrumental for us next season. She is a versatile guard that has been incredibly tough for us to guard over the years. Now she is a Yellow Jacket, and that makes us all very happy.”
A 5-11 guard from Montgomery, Ala., Jackson appeared in 45 games at Florida State from 2020-22 and helped FSU to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances. Last season, Jackson finished third on the team in scoring, averaging 6.7 points per game. As a redshirt junior in 2020-21, Jackson led FSU in both scoring (14.1 points per game) and assists (68). In the shortened season due to Covid-19, Jackson started all 19 games and shot nearly 40.0 percent from three-point range.
Prior to FSU, Jackson spent her freshman and sophomore years at South Carolina, where she appeared in 68 games, making 30 starts. She averaged 7.3 and 4.0 points per game, respectively, helping the Gamecocks to consecutive NCAA Tournament berths. A SEC All-Freshman Team selection in 2017-18, Jackson aided South Carolina to the NCAA Elite 8 after starting 25 games and shooting 39.4 percent from three-point range.
A highly-touted recruit out of Brewbacker Tech Magnet in Alabama, Jackson was ranked No. 54 in the 2017 recruiting class by ESPNW Hoopgurlz. She averaged 24.8 points, 7.8 rebounds and 5.2 assists during her senior season, and was crowned the 2017 Alabama Gatorade Player of the Year.
