2017 Collegiate Baseball All-Americans
TUCSON, Ariz. – Georgia Tech baseball junior second baseman Wade Bailey was named to the Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division I All-American Second Team, it was announced today.
Bailey, who earned All-ACC First Team honors this season, led the Jackets in a number of offensive categories throughout the year. Leading off for Tech at the top of the lineup for the majority of the season, Bailey hit a team-high .347 at the plate, with a team leading 82 hits, 21 doubles, three triples, 63 runs and 127 total bases. He also recorded sixth home runs and 38 RBIs on the season, while also stealing six bases and posting a team-best .420 on-base percentage while starting all 55 games for the Jackets.
A three-year starter for the Jackets, Bailey ranked in the top-12 in the ACC in five different categories, as he finished the year tied for first in doubles (21), third in runs scored (63), seventh in hits (82), 10th in total bases (127) and 12th in average (.347).
In 2017, he had single-game career highs in hits (5 vs. Virginia on May 20), runs (4 twice), RBIs (4 vs. Virginia on May 18) and home runs (2 at Virginia Tech on April 22). He also picked up his 200th career hit in the final regular season series versus Virginia.
