Yellow Jackets Ranked 18th In First Bowl Championship Series Poll Of The Season

Oct. 19, 2008

ATLANTA – Georgia Tech is ranked 18th in the first Bowl Championship Series poll released this afternoon. The Yellow Jackets are the highest ranked team in the ACC as Florida State comes in at No. 25.

Tech has an average computer rank of 16 and comes in at No. 22 in this week’s edition of the Harris Poll. The Jackets also cracked the top 25 for the first time this season as they debuted at No. 21 in both the Associated Press and USA Today polls. The AP poll does not count towards BCS standings, however.

This is the first time that the Jackets have been ranked in the AP poll since Sept. 9, 2007.

Fresh off their 21-17 come-from-behind win over Clemson in Death Valley on Saturday, the Yellow Jackets host Virginia this Saturday, Oct. 25, in a homecoming game at Bobby Dodd Stadium (3:30 p.m./ESPNU).
