On a three-game win streak, Georgia Tech returns to the hardwood on Sunday to open ACC play hosting Wake Forest. The Yellow Jackets defeated two ranked opponents to open the win streak before cruising to a 63-36 decision over Furman a week ago to jump back into the national rankings. Three Yellow Jackets finished with double-figure scoring numbers led by Digna Strautmane who dropped a season-high 20 points. The fifth-year forward hit a career-high six three-pointers en route to the game-high total. Lorela Cubaj continued to dominate on the boards, securing a game-high 14.
Wake Forest comes into the contest also on a three-game win streak and has only dropped one game this season, coming in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge against Nebraska. The Demon Deacons boast the ACC’s leading scorer in Jewel Spear who averages 22.5 points per game. The sophomore guard is shooting 47.9 percent from the field and 42.7 percent from three-point range. Olivia Summiel paces Wake Forest on the boards, securing 8.0 rebounds per game on average.
Georgia Tech and Wake Forest have met 73 times on the hardwood with the Jackets leading the all-time series, 46-27. The opponents have split the last four meetings with WFU taking the most recent in McCamish Pavilion last season. The Jackets lead the series when competing in Atlanta, 26-7.
