Women's Basketball Hosts Final Women's Basketball Exhibition

ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech women’s basketball team hosts its final exhibition game tomorrow at 5:00 p.m. when it hosts Athletes in Action at Alexander Memorial Coliseum.

The Yellow Jackets, who advanced to the quarterfinals of the Women’s National Invitation Tournament last season with a 17-14 record, boast four returning starters from a year ago.

Niesha Butler, the 1999 Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Year, also returns after sitting out last season with a torn medial collateral ligament Butler averaged 19.3 points per game as a freshman and is one of 30 preseason candidates for the Naismith College Basketball Player of the Year Award.

Senior forward Jaime Kruppa returns after leading the Yellow Jackets in points (10.4) and rebounds (7.7) last year. Tech’s other returning starters include sophomore point guard Nina Barlin, senior forward Regina Tate and junior guard Milli Martinez.

The Yellow Jackets opened their exhibtion season with a 95-73 win over the Norrkopping Flamingoes on Friday. They host Cornell in the Atlanta Marriott Northwest Classic on November 24 in their home opener.
