Volleyball Announces 2018 Spring Competition Dates

Feb. 20, 2018

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech volleyball head coach Michelle Collier announced the 2018 spring schedule on Tuesday afternoon. The slate features four competition dates, highlighted by a seven team tournament in O’Keefe Gymnasium on March 31.

“I am looking forward to our competition this spring,” said Collier. “We will get challenged in a lot of ways and it will be exciting to see how our young group is developing and learning.

“We have had some great practices and workouts and I’m looking forward to see all their hard work come together on the court, and figure out how much improvement we have made in certain areas we have focused on this spring.”

The Jackets kick off 2018 action on March 17 in Gainesville, Fla., when they take on the Gators. Florida finished the 2017 season with the No. 2 ranking overall and was the 2017 NCAA Tournament runner-up, falling to Nebraska, 3-1.

Tech then returns to O’Keefe on March 31 to host six teams for a tournament. The Jackets face Auburn, Florida and rival Georgia. The tournament also features Kennesaw State, Georgia State and Clemson.

Starting at 10 a.m., the day will consist of eight rounds with each round consisting of 60 minutes with two sets to 25 and one to 15 if times allows. The Jackets will face Auburn at 11:15 a.m., Florida at 1:45 p.m. and finish out the day against Georgia at 6:45 p.m.

On April 5, the White and Gold head to Atlantic Coast Conference rival Clemson before finishing out the spring slate at the UT Chattanooga Tournament on April 14.
