Three Signees Competed in GACA North-South All-Star Game

ATLANTA – Georgia Tech women’s basketball signees Monnette Bennett, Metra Walthour and Nisha Adams competed in the 2008 Georgia Athletic Coaches Association North-South All-Star Game last weekend.

Bennett, a four-year letterwinner and two-year captain under coach Jeff Seier at Statesboro high school, earned the South’s Most Valuable Player honors after scoring 13 of her 17 points in the second half of the North’s 85-77 win.

The 6-4 Adams and 5-6 Walthour, who are teammates at Liberty County, joined their future Yellow Jacket teammate on the South squad. Walthour scored 11 points and Adams added 10 in the loss.

The Jackets 2008 freshman class, ranked as high as sixth by All-Star Girls Report, also includes Chelsea Regins, a 6-2 power forward from Dillard high school in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Sasha Goodlett, a 6-4 center from Clinton high school in Clinton, Miss.
