Tech Travels to Clemson Sunday

Feb. 22, 2008

Game Notes

ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech women’s basketball team (19-7, 5-6 ACC) will try to snap a three-game Atlantic Coast Conference losing streak when it travels to Clemson (10-16, 3-8) Sunday. Tip-off at Littlejohn Coliseum is slated for 2 p.m.

Fans can catch all the action on WREK Radio (91.1 FM/www.wrek.org), Georgia Tech women’s basketball’s flagship station. The game will also be available through streaming video on ACCSelect.com.

“Our game at Clemson is an important ACC road game for us,” head coach MaChelle Joseph said. “We know how to win on the road (6-5 this season). We have to rely on our senior leadership down this final stretch.”

The Yellow Jackets, who return to the court after a tough road loss at Boston College, will meet the Tigers for the second time this season and 59th time overall. Tech holds a four-game winning streak in the series but is only 17-41 all-time against Clemson.

Janie Mitchell and Chioma Nnamaka each topped the 20-point threshold in the Jackets 77-59 win over Clemson at Alexander Memorial Coliseum on Jan. 31. Alex Montgomery added 17 points and five steals for the Jackets.

The Jackets defensive specialist Jacqua Williams needs one steal to break her own school-record of 95 steals in a season, which she set as a sophomore.

Tech will return home after the game for its final home game of the season in a match-up with Virginia Tech next Friday, Feb. 29. The Jackets will turn back the clock and wear specially designed uniforms from the 1979-80 season. Tip-off at the AMC is scheduled for 7 p.m.
