Tech Ranked 8th in Baseball Weekly Preseason Poll

ARLINGTON, Va. (Jan. 24) – With seven position players and its entire starting rotation returning, Stanford earned the No. 1 spot in the Baseball Weekly/ESPN Preseason Top 25 College Baseball Coaches’ Poll. The Cardinal, who tied for third at the 1999 College World Series and finished with a 50-15 record, earned 35 of 42 possible first-place votes and 1,043 total points.

Cal State Fullerton pulled in at No. 2 with one first-place vote and 949 points, followed by Alabama (one first-place vote, 916 points), defending national champion Miami (five, 914), and Florida State (848). Look for the poll inside the Jan. 26 issue of Baseball Weekly, followed by our annual Top 25 College Preview, on newsstands Feb. 2.

The Baseball Weekly/ESPN Top 25 Coaches poll is voted on by 42 Division I head coaches, representing members of the American Baseball Coaches Association in all areas of the USA. The Louisville Slugger trophy will be presented to the winner of the NCAA Division I College World Series.
